The Department of Finance, Economics and Accounting at Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM) was established in 2019 with the mandate of providing academic and professional services in the subject areas of finance, economics, and accounting . The department is responsible for offering new courses, designing syllabi, and updating existing courses related to these subject areas for KUSOM's undergraduate, graduate, and research programs .In addition to its academic role, the department also provides professional consulting and research-related services to its stakeholders in partnership with domestic and international agencies.
The department has a team of ten faculty members with expertise in areas such as corporate governance and regulation, banking, climate finance/green finance, mergers and acquisitions, economics, econometrics, international trade and investment, and capital markets .The department's strength lies in its strong partnerships and networking with the business community and international development agencies, including the Agriculture Enterprise Centre, FNCCI, CNI, Nepal Bankers Institute and the Nepal Banker Association etc.
The department also manages the Master in Business and Economics program to meet the growing need for an analytical and quantitative approach to problem-solving in real business scenarios .Furthermore, the department contributes to financial literacy through discussions, workshops, training, video materials, and competitions.
